Der Morgen kommt und mit ihm neue Kunst im städtischen Raum von Chemnitz. INTO THE DAWN - der Name als Programm nimmt die Überraschung mit auf. Keine großen Ankündigungen - die neue Kunst ist einfach plötzlich da. Neun Künstler aus Europa haben sich im Rahmen dieses Projekts der europäischen Kulturhauptstadt nach Interventionsmöglichkeiten in der Chemnitzer Innenstadt umgesehen. Und sie sind fündig geworden. Mancher eher unauffällig, auf beiläufige Entdeckung aus, andere mit kraftvoller Präsenz an zentralen Verkehrspunkten der Autofahrer und Touristen. Immer aber wird der Besucher herausgefordert, mit assoziativer Phantasie, die Werke in den lokalen Kontext einzuordnen.

Wegen der temporären Anlage des Projektes sind ab Ende 2025 nur noch wenige Arbeiten in der Stadt zu sehen: Der Rasierer am Marxkopf, die Insel auf dem Schloßteich und die zerbrochene Werbewand vor dem Kulturhaus Tietz.

Im Erdgeschoß des Tietz' präsentieren wir alle Projekte mit zeugnissen des Arbeistprozesses, mit Großfotos und einer Videodokumentation. Diese Ausstellung ist frei zugänglich, solange das Haus geöffnet ist.

Morning comes, and with it new art in the urban space of Chemnitz. INTO THE DAWN – the name says it all, taking the surprise with it. No big announcements – the new art is simply suddenly there. Nine artists from Europe have looked for opportunities to intervene in Chemnitz city centre as part of this project for the European Capital of Culture. And they have found what they were looking for. Some are rather inconspicuous, waiting to be discovered by chance, others have a powerful presence at central traffic points for motorists and tourists. But in every case, visitors are challenged to use their associative imagination to place the works in their local context.

Due to the temporary nature of the project, only a few works will still be on display in the city at the end of 2025: the razor on Marxkopf, the island on the castle pond and the broken advertising wall in front of the Kulturhaus Tietz.

On the ground floor of the Tietz, we present all the projects with evidence of the working process, large photos and a video documentation. This exhibition is freely accessible as long as the building is open.
